Hello future 6th graders!
Your day begins by getting up probably a little earlier than you have been used to. The key to morning success is planning ahead. Some things can be done the night before to save time like laying out what you are going to wear, checking you backpack and having it ready to go, and packing your lunch before you go to bed. This saves a lot of time in the morning and you won’t have to rush around and stress out before you have even left for school! It also gives you time to eat breakfast! Great habits are formed by good planning! When you arrive at school you will make your way to the cafeteria or go to the Media Center which opens at 7:30 am and wait for morning release at 8:05. From there you will navigate to your lockers. Passing time can be a little crazy and take some getting used to, but rest assured you are in good company. My advice to you is just take your time and be patient. Don’t worry that you are going to be late. It only takes a few days to get adjusted to your new routine and remember we have all gone through this. We can help if you need it. You did it you got through the halls and here you are at the dreaded locker! Oh no! I can’t remember the combination! My book bag doesn’t fit! I can’t find my homework! The tardy bell is going to ring! I forgot to feed the dog! Remain calm! Do not panic! Take a deep breath and think! That’s better! Now try your lock, and remember if all else fails go to plan “B”! Your mom probably wrote the combo in your planner or you could also ask for help from a friend or staff member. 4 minutes seems like such a short time, but if you stay calm and cool headed you will make it to class, use the restroom if needed and even socialize a little with your friends before the tardy bell! Oh, important side note! Please MAKE sure to close and lock your locker when you are done! Lunch is an important part of your day. The most important part of buying lunch is having your ID in hand ready to go! If you don’t, it slows done the line and the process. Swipe you ID! Your account appears. The very nice lunch lady takes your money and you are on your way to your table. Enjoy! We have 2 microwaves available to warm up food you bring from home and you can buy items Ala’carte in the snack line to add an extra treat! You have twenty minutes to eat your lunch, clean your area and then head out side for noon REC! Noon REC! 20 minutes of downtime, having fun with your friends and getting fresh air. It’s like revitalizing for the afternoon! For those of you that don’t need the fresh air and want to spend you REC in a more quiet spot, head to the Media Center to read or get a head start on your homework! Make sure to check the sign in front of the Media Center to see if it will be open or not. From REC you will go to C3. C3 which stands for: “Creating a Caring Community” is a great opportunity for Berkshire students to work on building their relationship with the community. It is a time to share ideas and create plans of action. It is also the time we get to see our amazing Broadcast team in action! Daily announcements come on for your viewing pleasure so you can keep up with what is going on at Berkshire. |
